M.I.

Jude Abaga also known as MI, an acronym for Mr. Incredible, is a Nigerian Hip Hop Artiste, lyricist, producer, songwriter, instrumentalist and record label executive.  He is popularly referred to as the ‘Chairman’ and ‘Africa’s number 1 rapper’ by virtue of his hit songs and impressive track record in the music industry.

M.I. has won numerous awards including the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009, and was nominated at the BET 2010 Awards in the Best International Act category, most recently he won the Best Rap Album and Lyricist on a roll at the just concluded Headies award.  He is signed to Chocolate City record label where he is currently the CEO of Chocolate City Music.

His first studio album, the award-winning ‘Let’s Talk About It’ followed. The album gathering awards such as Musician of the Year (Modemen Awards in 2008), Best Hip Hop Artist (City People Awards). His first mixtape was titled Pyeri Boy.  M.I. would later release a sample mixtape, ILLEGAL MUSIC, in which he fully exploited his lyrical prowess. M.I. soon signed to the Chocolate City company, a renowned music label in Nigeria, which necessitated a move from the city of Jos to the nation’s capital Abuja and also influenced the beginning of his successful career in the Nigerian music industry. His second album MI:2 further solidified his position in the industry and churned out hits such as ‘Action Film’, Number 1; One Naira ft Waje and many others.

Since then, M.I’s reputation as Africa Hip Hip royalty has been cemented, growing a massive followership amongst fans, young and old alike. His reputation for social consciousness is unrivalled, from lending his voice to free and fair elections to the release of a touching tribute titled Ashes dedicated to the four murdered students of the University of Port-Harcourt, M.I’S role and influence in the music industry is unparalleled.

He has been responsible for launching many upcoming artistes into the limelight including Wizkid, Jesse Jag, Ruby, Pryse Brymo, Ice Prince (winner of the 2013, MI, made a resounding comeback into the Nigeria music industry, with the world wide release of ‘The Chairman’ Album.

After four years, his album has been one of the biggest albums of 2014.  And has been nominated for Album of the year on City People Awards, The Headies amongst others.

In 2017, MI Abaga had constantly attended and performed at numerous events in and out of the country and to wrap up his year of events was the COPA Lagos Beach Tournament.

MI Abaga began his 2018 with some major events and collaborations. One of them was the release of his album, Rendezvous which hit the screens by February 2018 and in August another album, Yung Denzel which quickly caught the attention of fans who had been anticipating the album release.
