Zizile Ndziba
Zizile Ndziba is Investment Principal at AIIM – joining AIIM in 2017 and is involved in all aspects of the transaction process, from origination to transaction execution and asset management. She focuses primarily on Southern and East Africa and presently oversees the operations of the East Africa regional office.
Zizile has worked on transactions across multiple sectors including Energy (thermal power and renewable energy), Ports and Logistics and Telecommunications (fibre and towers).
She played an instrumental role in building AIIM’s profile and growth prospects in the fibre and ports & logistics sectors both of which face critical structural infrastructure deficits in Southern Africa.
Zizile has been a driving force behind AIIMs digital infrastructure strategy, particularly in the terrestrial access fibre arena. In 2021 she was a key member of the team which concluded a USD90m funding round for Metrofibre Networx, a regional fibre network operator in South Africa. This was followed by a lead role in concluding a US$50m secondary equity acquisition in Metrofibre during 2022 to rationalize governance and position the business as a regional consolidator in a fragmented fibre market of more than 70 network operators. She supported the executive team in the conclusion of a US$275m debt refinancing to fund further rollout of the network and played a key role in the identification, assessment, and engagement of further consolidation prospects. These initiatives are expected to deliver significant impact by helping to position Metrofibre to bring high speed connectivity solutions to a larger share of South Africa’s households (only 4.5m out of 18m households in the country, currently have fibre connections).
