Ted Pantone, Co-Founder & CEO, Turaco is a social entrepreneur with a decade of experience living and working in East Africa. He is a builder and a challenger who is driven by the passion to live out his faith through redemptive business. Over the last ten years, Ted has launched four startups, raised over USD $20 million in funding and invested in more than 50 African businesses.
He previously worked as the director of MicroEnsure Labs, the R&D function of the world’s largest micro-insurer. It was during this time that he identified the commercially scalable opportunity which exists in making insurance accessible to emerging world consumers.
At the present, Ted is the Co-founder and CEO of Turaco, a micro-insurtech business whose mission is to free people from the fear of financial shocks. Here, he leads a fast growing team in providing simple health and life cover for as little as USD $1 a month to low-income earners across Kenya and Uganda. Turaco’s vision is to insure a billion people over the next 25 years, doubling the current global standing. As a business leader with a wealth of professional experience and market knowledge to aid this ambitious goal, Ted and his team are set to grow their current customer base of 65,000 end-users, and fast.
