Michelle Hassan
Michelle Hassan is the Kenya Country Manager and a Principal Consultant at BFA Global, as well as a Co-Director of the Jobtech Alliance. She has over 15 years of experience working in the financial inclusion space. She has worked alongside development finance institutions, banks and startups to understand low-income consumers and develop products to support them.
Prior to joining BFA Global, Michelle worked as a Research Director at Digital Divide Data, (a Kenya-based research company), where she was involved with a wide range of financial inclusion projects, including the implementation of the Kenya Financial Diaries as well as the Tanzania Financial Diaries. Before Digital Data Divide, Michelle was involved with a range of research projects that sought to understand the financial lives of Kenyans, particularly through her work around Kenyan savings groups and through the Financial Landscapes study. Michelle holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health with a focus on biostatistics and epidemiology from the University of Nairobi.
In her capacity as the Jobtech co-director, she is interested in the role of platforms in offering jobs and improving work opportunities, especially for women and refugees. Jobtech Alliance is an ecosystem initiative that supports platforms through acceleration to enable them to create jobs.
