Team Lead Boost Africa

For the past years David van Dijk has been mobilizing investment capital and managing entrepreneurship support programs with a specific focus on technology and Africa. David heads up the team that is building and managing the TA (technical assistance) program for Boost Africa, a fund-of-fund investing in early-stage tech funds in Africa, funded by the EIB, the AfDB and the European Commission. He also works with German development agency GIZ on two different investment readiness programs and is a partner in the African Angel Academy, an African-led initiative training angel investors.

David is cofounder and first executive director of ABAN, the African Business Angel Network and has over the years worked with different organizations supporting entrepreneurs including Venture Capital for Africa (VC4A), Spark and the Ignite Foundation. He currently sits on the (advisory) board of Amref Ventures NL, the EU-funded Enrich-in-Africa Program, and the Impact Committee of EBAN, the European Business Angel Network.

David started his career in the corporate world, launching, managing, and occasionally closing country organizations across West Africa, Egypt, Russia and the CIS region, India and the USA. He holds degrees in economics, business administration and international relations from the University of Oregon, Nyenrode Business University, the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Clingendael, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations.
