Dotun Olowoporoku

Dr. Dotun Olowoporoku is the Managing Partner at Ventures Platform, a seed VC fi rm with a $46 million portfolio that invests in innovative startups with differentiated and defensible market-creating innovations. Before his role at Ventures Platform, he served as the Chief Commercial Officer at Moniepoint, a series C fi ntech startup that facilitates fi nancial services for the next billion Africans through payment and banking services to over 500,000 businesses. overseeing the company’s ecosystem engagement, investor relationships, corporate development, M&A, and strategic expansion. Prior to that, he was a Principal at Novastar Ventures, a pan-African early-stage VC fi rm where he led post-series A investments.

Dr. Dotun’s career began in academia as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow on air quality and climate change in Bristol, England. This research background provides him with a unique analytical perspective in his investment roles. In 2012, he took an entrepreneurial path and founded an on-demand food delivery platform. The platform saw signifi cant growth under his leadership, scaling across three cities in the UK, and forming a strategic partnership with Just-Eat UK Plc in 2015.
He hosts the Building the Future podcast, where he engages in thought-provoking discussions about Africa’s growth narrative. His infl uence expands to several African startups where he serves as an angel investor and board member, contributing to their strategic direction and growth.
