Stone Atwine

From simply wanting to fix the perils of sending remittances to his grandma in Uganda, to now building the financial octopus for Africa and beyond, Stone Atwine is the CEO and co-founder of Eversend, a multi-currency app that enables Africans to conveniently and affordably send, pay and spend globally.

With a proven track record in fintech spanning over 13 years, Stone started his journey with Payment Solutions International, a Pretoria-based loan management company. Following this, he assumed the role of Country Manager for Kenya. He later offered strategic consultancy to banking institutions, including Stanbic Bank, Barclays Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank across Kenya and Uganda, primarily focusing on enhancing loan collections through the use of technology.

Stone’s entrepreneurial pursuits saw him co-founding Yetu Credit Finance, a USSD-based micro-lender targeting government employees in Uganda, and useremit.com, a mobile money remittance service operating in Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda.

His significant contributions to Africa’s economic development have been recognized by the Institut Choiseul in Paris, where he has been named a top young African leader under 40 on six occasions.

In 2017, Stone was selected by the French government as an exceptional talent in entrepreneurship, leading him to establish Eversend, a borderless payments platform. Stone is a ready, fire, aim leader with a heavy bias for momentum. His focus on people and the customer plus a commitment to increased financial inclusion for Africa are non-wavering.

As of 2023, Stone resides in London, focusing on Eversend’s international growth while maintaining a strong presence in Lagos, Nairobi, Accra, and Kampala.
