Empowering Women Through Technology: Meet the FemTech Award Finalists

The Africa Tech Summit Awards recognise those driving impactful change across the continent’s tech ecosystem. This year’s FemTech Award recognises solutions dedicated to improving women’s health in Africa. The award celebrates products and platforms that empower women through healthcare, reproductive services, and overall well-being—advancing gender equality and expanding access to critical services. From AI-powered maternal health platforms to digital tools for women entrepreneurs, these finalists are closing gaps and addressing key challenges in maternal care, financial inclusion, and workplace well-being.

Meet the finalists

Babysteps (Kenya): Using AI and machine learning, BabySteps delivers personalised maternal health insights, helping detect complications like preeclampsia and gestational diabetes early. Designed for underserved communities, the platform provides multilingual support and offline functionality, ensuring inclusivity and better health outcomes.

Hermplify (Nigeria): A business and financial empowerment platform designed for African women entrepreneurs and young girls. With tools like Career Pathfinder AI, automated business support, and free global educational resources, Hermplify is breaking barriers to financial inclusion and digital skills development.

Mara Scientific (Uganda): Many healthcare facilities struggle with inefficiencies due to manual processes and outdated systems. Mara Scientific’s Healthcare Management Information System (HMIS) and Pharmacy solution automates workflows, reducing administrative burdens and allowing healthcare providers to focus more on patient care.

My Pregnancy Journey (South Africa): The first African-focused maternal digital health app, offering culturally relevant pregnancy tracking, local health expert connections, and a digital ecosystem that supports women from pregnancy to postpartum.

Sanicle Digital Health (United States): Revolutionizing workplace health and wellness, Sanicle.cloud is tackling menstrual and menopause health through an AI-driven, gamified SaaS platform. By equipping employers with real-time health tracking and equitable benefits, Sanicle is setting a new standard for workplace well-being.

Why this matters

Women’s health advancements are not just about healthcare—they impact economic empowerment, workplace equity, and generational well-being. These finalists are proving that when we invest in femtech solutions, we invest in stronger communities, healthier families, productive workforces, and a more inclusive future.
