Marcel Awori

Marcel Awori is a sports business operator and ecosystem builder working at the intersection of tech, youth development, and commercial growth in African sports. He serves as Chief of Staff at Twende Sports and Nairobi City Thunder, supporting day-to-day leadership execution across operations and strategic priorities. In his role, Marcel oversees partnership strategy—from development to long-term management—while also driving merchandise commercialization and leading youth programming and activations, helping build a modern sports brand with scalable revenue streams and impact beyond matchdays.

A former NCAA Division I soccer player at Boston University, Marcel brings a firsthand athlete perspective to building high-performance environments and commercially sustainable sports systems.

Marcel is also the founder of B.U.I.L.D Sports Africa, a nonprofit initiative focused on strengthening grassroots infrastructure, increasing athlete visibility, and creating pathways for young players—connecting rising talent to education and scholarship opportunities.

From engaging corporate partners to shaping talent pipelines, Marcel’s work reflects the shift of African sport into a broader sports + entertainment economy—where content, community, and innovation drive scale.
