Julian is a commercially minded business leader with a strong impact orientation and nearly a decade and a half of experience scaling mission-driven organisations across Africa. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of 4G Capital, where he leads the mission to grow nano and micro enterprises through capital and knowledge, driving financial inclusion via innovative, responsible fintech solutions across Kenya and Uganda.

Throughout his career, Julian has focused on high-growth business models across both B2B and B2C sectors, including fintech, off-grid energy, and cold-chain agribusiness. He brings a unique blend of strategic leadership, operational execution, and resilience in complex environments.

Julian’s professional foundation was built over 11 years as a Royal Engineer Officer in the British Army, which included deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. These years of service shaped his disciplined, people-centric approach to leadership. Following his military career, he spent five years in senior leadership roles at M-KOPA, playing a key role in the company’s growth from 100,000 to 1 million customers.
Julian is a leader focused on scaling organisations through building high-performing teams and robust business models, while delivering measurable impact. He holds advanced qualifications in leadership, microfinance, geospatial information, and international relations, and remains passionate about advancing inclusive growth across Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
