Martha Githui-Bett

Martha Githui has 10 years of experience in Telecommunications and Project Management.  She currently works as a Senior Program Manager at Safaricom PLC, where she has been charged with providing program leadership in the pursuit and delivery of technology solutions for the business through Innovation.  Previously, she was involved in driving the regional expansion strategies from a planning perspective covering Ethiopia and South Sudan, where she lead a team of engineers, partners and business teams in setting up M-PESA. Of note, is she led the setup of technology operations in the local setup of the largest mobile money project ever carried out globally, M-PESA Generation 2 – G2.

She is passionate about empowering young women through technology and sports to achieve a gender-balanced boardroom. She was among the first Women in Technology Champions at Safaricom, encouraging girls across the country to consider careers in technology and advance from the classroom to the boardroom touching 1000+ girls. As the first chair in Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) committee at Safaricom she successfully oversaw the embedding of D&I within the organization. She has been a judge in the Technology category since the inception of the annual National Science and Technology Exhibition organized by Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) which is a joint project by the ministry of education and the government of Ireland aimed at promoting innovations by young scientists.

She holds a BEng. Degree in Electronics majoring in Telecommunication Engineering from Multimedia University Malaysia and is a certified PRINCE2 practitioner.
